What IYO is the best spot to dive on in the Chesapeake Bay and why?

I think the south tip of Md has some stuff...other than that I dont think there are any real best places...you may want to check with some DELMARVA dive shops...even then I think they only dive Ocean City.

After a off shore hurricane dumps a lot of fresh water in the Bay it tends to clear up for a while. Crabbing is not as good afterward, but I have gotten eels that were really tasty. I never thought about SCUBA diving in the Bay. When the sea nettles are abundant, it really sucks when in the water.

I only dived in the bay once and that was for Oyster. Not a bad dive. Saw some blue crabs too.

In my earlier days of diving, the shop I chartered out of would run regular trips to the CBBT Third Island. While not as nice as off-shore, there were always plenty of creatures to see around the rocks. I'd still like to spearfish there.

Hey Warscout, A couple of times we dove one of the other islands if conditions or boat traffic (fishermen) didn't allow diving the 3rd. I think we did the 2nd Island once. I've never known anyone to dive them except by boat. Theoretically, you could do a kayak dive if you tethered yourself to it. The closest launch point would be Kiptopeak and the 4th Island would be within easy paddle distance. I've seen folks do this there freediving when spearfishing but scuba kayak diving is popular in other states.
