Interesting Night Dive

We did an offshore wreck dive last nigh on the Indra, an old Navy ship that was sunk in 1992 as part of the Artificial Reef Program.

The Indra is a very popular dive site off the coast, as it's shallow (bottom is about 65'), and near the shore (about 45 minute boat ride)
The most interesting thing that happened was that I was "attacked" by a pretty good sized spadefish.

It was swimming around, and I shined my light on it. He came right at the light, and I pushed the light forward to keep it away from me. When the light touched the fish, head-on, the fish took off, swam around my right arm, and hit me in the jaw, pretty hard. My buddy checked, no damage.

After the dive, on the way home, we were talking, and I think what happened is I blinded the fish when I tried to push it away with the light. The fish tried to get away from me, and ended up swimming into my jaw.

Overall, really good dive.

That's funny. That reminds me of the time I got punched by a monkey. He was playing with his little monkey friend, and I was just standing on the hiking trial minding my own business when one of them ran by me and punched me in my leg.

Speaking of funny animal stories.

I was at the San Diego Zoo, and we passed the Rhino Enclosure. A female rhino was backed up the fence, and I swear she tried to pee on us as we passed.

If you've never seen a rhino pee, thing garden hose.

I got bit by a squirrel on the finger at some flower garden thing in Dallas. I bent down and rubbed my fingers together like I had food and the thing came right up to me and bit me. I guess I learned never to mess with an angry/hungry squirrel. My wife happened to take a picture at the exact time it was bitting me as well, so we have a pretty funny pic to show people.

Today I caught a black sea bass, while diving.

I noticed the fish was trailing a swivel from a piece of monofilament. I grabbed the swivel, and sure enough, he was attached.
I cut the line as close to his mouth as I could.

That Big D squirrel was most likely a Cowboys fan.

Ya those Cowboys fans are like that. But really you can't hold it against them, you just have to feel sorry for them! Now those CHIEFS fan squirrels are the nicest best squirrels I have ever seen!!

Hilarious. It's not every day you get punched by a monkey.
