Good question.
I always like the Happy Hour two tankers. First one at twilight to kind of catch the shift change. Second dive, truely night time.

One night I did a night dive right after dusk. It was already dark, so probably your 2nd option. That dive lasted just under an hour. We got out of the water, got our students settled out and retanked for another non-training dive. This one happened a couple hours or so after dark. The amazing thing was that we saw so much different life on that 2nd dive. It is probably the best night dive I've done. Some day, probably when I go to Bonaire, I'm going to do a midnight dive and a 2am dive. I believe the longer you wait, the more activity from the night critters you'll see.

The one night dive i have done was from dusk until it got dark and that was fun but as was said it would take a few hours for the real nightlife to come out id say.
In my aquariums the night feeding polyps take a while to extend fully and it generally takes a couple of hours until the brittle stars etc start to come out and feed. Jas. |
