Anyone been out to Hathaway's Pond in Hyannis lately? Thinking about dropping by on Friday while I'm in that area anyways, and will have some new gear to play with, wondering what the water temps have been like lately.

I haven't been in about a year, but I'd guess the temps are about 40, give or take a couple of degrees.

Curious I live very close by and swim here alot in the summer, is it worth diving? Might do a couple of pracitice dives there this summer before I head back to Bonaire if so.
anyway curious about all aspects of diving here in summer only July & August.

That's where I did my cert dives last year. It was pretty nice, we swam with a huge school of perch for a while. There are a couple of sunken things to look at. The water is pretty clear and reasonably warm. I would recommend at least checking it out.

It's an easy dive, and it's usually good even when the ocean is blown out. Attractions include a sunken tractor, a sunken Audi, a wooden platform, and a shipwreck (the wooden pleasure boat 'Field and Sea').

Well I am thinking real seriously of going there this summer. After my return from Bonaire I bought new fins and socks. Would like to try them out and make sure the regulator etc are working okay before another shorter trip to Bonaire end of august. Does anyone have a particular dive shop where they rent a tank and wetsuit from? Also do you need to get any permissions to dive or just go when you want? I have bought some things from CapeCod Seasports before ,seem like good people, so given no particular infomation would probably use them.

I haven't rented in years, but I've gotten fills at the Dive Locker before. I think they may be the closest to the pond.

No permission necessary, it's a public area. Just go dive.

Thanks Matt for the info. I will check in with sea sports and go from there. will just wait for the weather to get a bit warmer like 20 degrees

Ended up there a few weeks ago - and it really isn't as cold as you may think. About 60 or so at the sunken boat, if I remember correctly.
