Good Scuba Books
I had back surgery a few weeks ago, and have been laid up for a while. I have had the pleasure of reading some great books though, and I thought that I would share and see if anyone else had read anything great lately, scuba centered or otherwise ocean related.

This one is a little different than some of the popular dive books, in that it's not about going deep, staying longer, or discovering artifacts. It's more about the fun regular divers have exploring underwater.

Not sure about diving, I'm feeling a little better every day though. Hopefully I'll be back in the water in a month or so.

the book pretty much is the real story? They're currently making it into a movie.
Gary Gentile came out with a book disputing shadow divers becuase, well, basically he was mad that it took the limelight off of him more than anything and tried to get it back. Massive failure too. Shadow Divers is about how John Chatterton led a group that discovered it in the early 90's... he teamed up with Richie Kholer and they spent the next like 8 years trying to identify it. John and Richie you might know as the hosts of the Discovery channel series "Deep Sea Detectives"... and it seems like they pop up in pretty much any scuba diving related thing Discovery does. Btw, I met John last year and he's absolutely awesome. Have never met a cooler more down to earth genuinely nice guy in my entire life. Me and my group were gonna get copies of shadow divers so he could sign them, he gave us his address and told us to just send him copies when we got home so he could get richie to sign them too! Now my shadow divers book is signed by both him and richie. ![]() Last edited by plot : 06-28-2008 at 03:37 PM. |
