Can't disagree with rescue if you are totally comfortable in the water.
As for specialties, whatever floats your boat or whatever you need to maximize your diving in your normal diving environment. Here in NC, most the diving is offshore wreck diving, so deep and wreck are important if you get tired of the quarry.

I think you should pick your specialty course based on your interets and needs. To me Rescue is a must take. Any speciaties though should be based on what is best for you.

I always recommend to scuba diver certified divers that they take AOW, CPR/First Aid and Scuba Rescue if they do nothing else. Of course, if they have special interests out of the AOW they can they can pursue those.
