Z2 or B2?

If I were going to buy an Atomic reg, is there any reason to pay more for a B2 or ST1 over a Z2, other than the swivel? And since I may want to get a miflex hose, I'm not sure that is an advantage anyway. It looks like the extended T that I would like fits any of them.

As far as I can tell, the difference is a brass vs. titanium demand valve body. Does this really matter?

Do they breathe differently? I can't try them out before deciding. By the way, I don't need anything for cold water, if that matters.

Thanks for any help.

If you're going to loose the swivel hose anyway, I would go with the Z2. They will breathe the same.

The B2 has a swivel on the hose _and_ a swivel on the 1st stage that is missing on the regular Z2. IIRC, it's possible to get a Z2 with the 1st stage swivel.

I have a Ti2 reg with a Z2 octo. You really cant go wrong with Atomic. Best setup I have ever used.

You should also consider the M1. If you use Nitrox it will be your best bet.

All Atomic regs (and pretty much every reg made these days) is just fine for recreational nitrox. You don't need to worry about it unless you plan for technical diving with O2 mixes that are higher that 40%.

Just buy the Z2. With it you can get it with or without a first stage swivel.

definately go for at least the first stage swivel, you'll be amazed at the subtle difference it adds.

Agreed. Z2 with the first stage swivel. No need to pay the extra for the B2 swivel that you're not going to use.

The ST1 is neat, but heavy. I'd rather go for the M1.

The T2, however... I wouldn't want that one. Overpriced for that you get, and there are issues with Titanium and Nitrox... even if they say it's technically ok for recreational mixes. I'd go M1 if you want high end... and still save money over the T2.

You can use any hose with the first stage swivel.
