Tusa vs Zeagle
Every time I think I have my mind made up, I read something that throws me back on the ropes.
I had pretty much made up my mind that I wanted the Zeagle Envoy and the Zeagle octo, with a simple little SPG like the small tusa. Then I started reading about the Tusa RS-130. Are these two regs comparable? Is it worth spending the extra on the Zeagle? 95% of all my diving will be warm waters above 100 fsw. On occasion I'll dive some fresh water with some fine sedimentation in the water if that matters. I am on a budget, but I am looking for a solid performer that will hold up for years to come. I don't have any plans of doing tech diving. I just want to be an underwater tourist! |

Any inexpensive SPG would do the trick, I was more concerned about the regs. I found another forum almost identical to this one (didn't come up in my initial search) and it seems everyone leans toward the Zeagle. I see a big following in the brand, but I understand why. Scott really cares about his customers.
The other question I have is, is there a big difference with diving with an adjustable reg, like the Envoy Deluxe vs just the regular Envoy? Is it worth the extra money? All the regs i've used to date have been the non adjustable type, and I honestly haven't had any problems breathing. |

I own two RS460's, which are similar though a little better than the RS130's, however, they have the same features for the most part... I like the Zeagle stuff too, don't get me wrong, however, to say they are noticeably or significantly better will require some proof or direct info... The RS130 is about the least expensive good reg you can buy, and I've used them many times while in certification training... I went to the RS460 because I got a good deal on them and, they are a little bit better.... edit: I definitely like the adjustability... on my Tusa, I can go from surface mode - harder to breathe, to dive mode - almost having air forced into you, with a turn of the knob... It can supply way more air than I can inhale per cycle if needed too... Last edited by mitsuguy : 04-20-2008 at 06:40 PM. |
