Best first stage on the Market?
I just want everyones opinion on what the best first stage on the market is if money is no option. I think that at some point I would like to upgrade to the Atomic Aquatics T2 Swivel Regulator second stage Atomic Aquatics - the World's First Titanium Regulator, for the low low price of just $430.00. But what should my shooting point be for my first stage. Thanks for any input.

I have a Ti2, never had a problem with it. Now I dont use Nitrox yet. The book says it can handle Nitrox, but you cant switch between air and Nitrox.
When its time for Nitrox I will probably just grab up an M1. You could always get your M1 package, and get the Ti2 second. If money is no option, use the Ti2 as a primary and the M1 as your octo, when you are using air, then buy a Z2 to use as your octo when you use the M1 second with Nitrox. Sounds like a lot, but if you really want the Ti2 and Nitrox, might be your best option. |

The 'best' first stage is a bit nebulous, since different people need and prefer different things. Think in terms of the design and not in terms of brand.
Balanced Pistons (like the Atomics and many others) have a reasonably simple design, loads of excess capability, and are reliable as the day is long. They're not the best if you want to easily adjust the IP for some reason, and there are reasons to pick diaphragm regs in cold water. The Z2 first stage is a lot of value for the money. If money is no option, the M1 first stage is sweet. You could also make the case for a Zeagle first stage or even a Sherwood, depending on what's important to you. They all have different designs that offer pros and cons. |
