I'd be diving in some relatively cold quarries this year but our next few dives will hopefully be somewhere on the west coast since we will end up out there due to some business travel.
My wife and I both dive Proton primaries and octos. I use a proton 12 metal and she dive the regular proton. Never had a problem with either. I don't know your definition of relatively cold but I've been in a couple of quarries in TN and a couple of springs in Texas down to about 50 degrees F without issue. We are using the regular yellow plastic octo's. I breathe on my octo a breath or two each dive and have never had a problem.
