Good regulator

I was thinking about buying a new regulator soon and was wondering what everyone thought was the best regulator to buy?

If you have a favorite regulator please tell me!

Thanks for ur time!!!

Wow... a bit broad. Let's get a bit of info from you so we can narrow this down. What kind of diving do you do? Cold? Deep? or just basic warm recreational diving?

Do you like the adjustment feature? Swivel? Do you care if it's piston or diaphragm... or don't know the difference and don't care? Do you have a budget you'd like to stay in? And for that budget, do you need just a new 1st and second stage, or an octo and gauges... and maybe computer?

With some of that info - I can tell you what I would choose for your combination of scenarios.

If money is not a huge object.. .for me, the Oceanic Delta IV with DVT... very, very sweet - will work in any conditions, sealed, swivel, adjustable... awesome reg. http://www.scubatoys.com/store/detai...anicDeltaIVReg

Want my opinion? One of the best breathing regs out there has to be the Poseidon Odin. http://scubatoys.com/store/detail.as...=OdinJetstream . I dove one for 4 years and only sold it when I took a 10 year hiatus from diving.

It can be a little difficult to find people to service it locally, so you might want to check into that.

Yea, it is a bit broad.

For me, Oceanic Delta IV and Zeagle Flathead VI are right at the top of my list.

i like Mares... no reason other than i own a V16 and love it... i guess.
if you want to do cold water... mares caters to that as well.
I've heard alot of good things about scubapro regs (mk25 and mk17) specifically... but i hear the have poor customer service.
Atomic makes good stuff... and has the swivel for luxury (on certain models)
so it's up to what you're gonna spend... and what you're gonna do with it.

I've used many regulators, mostly Sherwood and Apeks. The DS4 and XTX50 is my favorite regulator, it's so easy breathing that you never think about anything other than diving. I like the Oceanic stuff as well, good solid regulator and a company that backs the product beyond anybodies expectations.

Still, Apeks is my favorite.

What would the difference be between a solid $200 reg, $400 reg, and $600 reg?

The main difference would be what features.. like adjustable, sealed, swivel, etc and actual performance... Meaning how easy they are to inhale and exhale. And if looking at deeper depths, the "high performance" regs are preferred as they will not have their performance drop off when the pressure increases at depth.

That's kind of a rough idea.

If looking sub 200... go with the Tusa RS 130 - adjustable, great breather etc.

If you want higher performance - go up to a Zeagle Envoy Deluxe, or all the way up to a Zeagle Flathead or a Oceanic FDX.

For me I just don't see how you can beat the Zeagle Envoy Deluxe for value. Perfect breathing machine scores in Scuba Diving Magazine, and great reviews from the testers.

Great reputation for customer service from Zeagle, and with your ST Forum discount, and $10.00 gift certificate you could have one for under $320.00.. Others may disagree, but that's a lot of regulator for the money!!

I am definitely liking the Oceanic GT3/CDX5. Balanced, adjustable, sealed first stage and can be had new with a warranty for less than $200 without the new DVT feature. I've been diving one for 6 months and love the thing.
