The Aeris Atmos Pro (the reg I use) is the "Main Reg" I was referring to. That swivel is an LP port and can be used for any LP application; it does not require a special hose.

Yes.

Halcyon Closed Circuit Markers are inflated by inflating orally or by connecting a LP/QD to the valve.

I have this is as well, but it is multi-purpose. My DSMB is my Little Miss Spanky Blow-up doll. Great flotation device as well. I get some strange looks from other divers. Don't know why.
Isn't that what your other hose is used for?

If you run out of ports, can't you just get a "Y" to screw into one of the LP ports to make it a double port?

Big time point of failure! Far better to just get a proper stage with the number of ports you need. It's not like first stages have to be terribly expensive... I've seen very nice ones for $60.

I'm sure there's a reason for those that is escaping me right now, but it doesn't seem like much of a good idea to hook a low pressure hose directly to a smb to inflate it unless you are at the surface... i'll keep my duckbill smb that I can use any air source to inflate and not be attached to for now...

Speed of inflation for one thing. Less swapping about with the breathing gas regs... can be important in very cold water. The inflator valve on those SMB's doesn't lock onto the LP hose, so you're never actually connected to it. It just presses on and starts filling.

Yup. What compudude said.

And, the LP QD is a lot less likely to get snagged by the line or loop of the bag compared to a 2nd stage. Easier to keep the package away from you too compared to an integrated octo depending on the length of hose.

So basically you just have an extra unconnected LP hose when you dive?
