Started with scubapro R190 (still using it sometimes to keep him fit) one of the most reliabel and easiest repairable reg. Switched then to Draeger shark, very easy to breath reg. but hard to get parts and using now a boss reg. which i bought because it was on special offer. I am happy with it but think nothing beats the R190.

Atomic B2

Ok so I see a lot of people in favor of the Atomic's - I went to the Atomic's site in hopes to get my information but as they don't list manuals like Oceanic I am curious - what is the Atomic B2's temperature limit?

If you plan to dive in water below 50f with the B2 Atomic recommends having it sealed. This can be done by the shop (ST can do this) or by the manufacture. Basically the first stage is sealed with a rubber sleeve and the chamber is filled with a lubricant.

I have dove with B2's for 3 years now and love them, the freeze kit is standard on the M1 and would be a good option as well.

I suspect the lower limit should, in the real world where fear of litigation doesn't govern practical application, be more like the high-to-mid 40's, just the like it is for the ScubaPro MK25 it shares a design with.

I dove a Mares Abyss for my first 500odd dives and loved every minute of it. The things are bullet proof and breathe great to all depths I took it (only max of 40). Only down sides of them is the weight (these things are chunky and heavy!) and the routing for doubles is less than ideal, even though many ppl do still use them. They have a larger primary LP port than a standard reg.

Anyway as for Apeks, I've not owned em but I did my advanced nitrox and deco procedures course on a set of XTX100's and thought they were fine. For the price however, I'd go with Zeagles. ST's current price on flathead XI's cannot be beatern. Zeagle Flathead VI Regulator Din Or Yoke reviews and discounts, Zeagle also getting service kits for them is a breeze, whereas the Apeks/Aqualung conglomeration can pose issues in some areas.

Just my thoughts.
