What is the most 'drooled over' regulator?

I was wonder what the most highly desired primary 2nd stage was for everyone out there.. Diving seems to be an intensly "gear driven" sport and hobby and as such, there will always be that one piece of gear that a diver wished they can afford.

SO WHAT IS YOUR DREAM REGULATOR?

That's easy. It must:

1) Be able to breathe good past 300'
2) Cheap enough to by several
3) Simple to rebuild (cheap parts to0)
4) User rebuildable (parts kits/manuals easily available)
5) Very Reliable.

For now, I like the Dive Rites. I've had them deep (200') and in cold water and no problems. Rebuilt the 2nd stage (RG2010) and it was no problem. Parts are around $12 for it. Service manual is online. Its pretty cheap to boot!
Maybe that's why we have 4 of them.

Zeagles are a very close second. (have 4 of them as well)
I can't tell a difference between the two but the nod goes to Dive Rite is because of the VERY open service manuals and parts kits. Still, either is a good choice. My primary is a RG2500 Dive Rite, my secondary is a Zeagle Flathead 6. My wifes primary is a Dive Rite Hurricane and her secondary is a Zeagle DS4. Stage regs are Zeagle Envoys (2) and 02 regs are Dive Rite RG2500's (2). We have a good mix.

I've got to agree with cavediver on his points. I use SP Mk25/S550s. They hold #1 and #5 (and #3 without the parts), but lack the others. I'm getting to the point where it's getting really expensive for yearly services, and moving into user serviceable gear is an attractive feature. SP COULD have all the points, but they refuse to allow open sales of the kits.

Apeks dont allow open sale of kits either but they are available if you know where to shop. Maybe SP is the same?

Do Atomic sell kits and provide service manuals?

Dive Rite's Jetstream DR. It is actually an Xstream 1st stage connected to a Jetstream 2nd stage, both made by Poseidon. In the U.S., finding a local dive shop that will service Poseidon regs isn't easy. Many shops will ship customer Poseidon regs to service centers, which takes a while and isn't cheap. As Poseidon makes some of the best regulators in the world, many U.S. divers have put up with these service issues. However, now that Dive Rite is offering a rebadged Poseidon reg and is selling parts kits for it, a diver can now own a Poseidon reg and service it himself! Hence, the drool.
