Scubapro G250V In Cold Water

Hi everyone-

I've done some searching on here and haven't seen many comments specifically related to this question.

Does anyone have any experience with the SP's G250V in cold waters (lower than 40 degrees)? I dive with a group that does a lot of cold water diving in the midwest and we frequently hit water in the 30's at depths. Many of us use the MK25/S600 set-up. I love the reg, however it tends to free-flow a lot at depth for all of us. I know this reg has a history of doing so.

A few people have starting trying the G250 and seem to be having good results. I'd like to hear some more thoughts on it's cold water performance.

Thanks!

From what I've been reading, the free flow in cold water is more attributable to the MK25 first stage rather than the G250 second. I've heard that the MK17 is a better cold water reg and the G250 pairs with it nicely. I'm still on the fence as to which first stage I want.

I've heard the same thing. That's why my next set of regs is going to be a MK 17/G250 combo. It will serve as the backup to my MK 25/S550, the secondary reg on my doubles and my primary set for ice and extreme cold water diving.

The S600 reg is also just as good as the G250V which i have both and they work very beautiful. Waters I've dove in range from 40s to 80s before and these regulators can take quite a beating on temperature. But don't push it just to see.
