Piston or Diaphram - Pros & Cons
Ok, I know the difference between a piston & diaphram as far as the parts go, but what are the pros & cons. Why would I want a piston over a diaphram, or diaphram over a piston? Does 1 supply more air at depth? Is 1 better for colder water? Or is it just that they were based on 2 different designs that work about equally well?
I know that Atomic is all piston & Apeks is all diaphram (I think). So that would lead me to belive that they just chose a style & stayed with it. But doesn't Scubapro have both designs? I know Aqua Lung has made piston regs in the past, but I don't know if they are making any today. Inquiring minds want to know.
