I would suggest your friend tap the brakes. Why does he want to seal the envoy? The reason for sealing is if you are doing very cold water dives - and if that is the case, the envoy second stage would not be the top choice anyway. He might be better off just buying the flathead VI which is sealed and has the anti freeze vanes on the second stage, is adjustable, and now that we've lowered the price on that - it will be not much more than getting an envoy, going through the sealing procedure, and he's getting a lot more reg.

Or just stick with the envoy and don't bother seal it if he's not doing very cold stuff...

But sealing an envoy does not seem like something he would really want to do - either get a cold water reg, or don't!

Hope that helps!

Speaking of which, how "cold" is "cold" in terms of having to worry about having a "cold" water reg to begin with? I.e., at what temp should we start worrying?

Cold is basically 40 degrees or so and below. Here's a good test... If you see me in the water - you don't have to worry about sealing the reg!

If I DO see you in our local waters (45 - 55 degrees), I'll be in a state of shock as it is.
