Mixing 2nd stages?
Does your primary 2nd stage and octo 2nd stage have to be ge same brand? I have a Aqua lung Titan LX and a octo that came with it. I dont like the octo. Can I replace it with a Dive rite octo, or other brands with my Aqua Lung 1st stage? Thanks.

No, they do not have to be the same. I use a ScubaPro mk25 first stage with a ScubaPro s550 2nd stage and a Dacor Viper octo. I kept the octo from a previous rig that was all Dacor. I like it because it has a side exhaust which means it is never upside down.

As long as the 2nd are designed to work with the same IP (or close), then it's not a problem. Some people point out that you might have trouble with service if you take it to a shop that covers one brand but not the other. Most serious shops can work around this without much trouble though.

I've got a 2 Titan LX first stages one with an Aqualung primary and a Scubamax secondary and the other the opposite. Never had any issues. I've loaned a backup second stage to a buddy a few times who didn't have one, not sure what first stage was used, no issues there either.

As the rest have said. You can mix your first and second stages. Before you do, ensure that the intermediate pressure is compatible. Most modern second stages are in the 120-140 psi range so it's okay to mix and match.
