OK - this looks on the surface to be a really great deal - has anyone used this reg and can comment? I saw a recall on the Oceanic website - I assume this was for a limited problem.

It a good reg, I used one daily for about 6 months while cleaning boats. I was hard on it and it withstood the constant abuse I gave it. In and out of the water(6-12 hours a day) beat against the docks, sometimes with bad vis would scrape against barnacles on botton of boat, up against rudders, props....LOL took a beating but kept on ticking.

I would recommend it.

I've bought two Oceanic Alpha 8/CDX5 setups, one complete setup for my daughter, and I use an Alpha 8 Octo/CDX5 on my pony tank. I did several dives on the complete setup before handing it over to my daughter, and it worked fine.

The recall was limited, and there's a tool to check the serial number of the CDX5 to see if it was involved in the recall. Both that I bought this summer from ST were not part of the recall.

I have a GT3/CDX5, My only real complaint is the wat the LP hoses come off the first stage. Their location causes some tugging on the second stage, and a loop that seems to get caught sometimes. I replaced the second stage hose for my primary reg with a Miflex hose and it helps with the tugging.

it's probably the best deal you will find on regulator. The mares mr12/proton @200 is good too but i think this is a better deal

Are they the blue or the grey ones? oceanic has both, not sure what ST carries?

edit to add....I have sent an email to ST asking which purge cover they have, the blue or the grey. The item page does not have a selection box for which color to choose so I am assuming they have the blue like the photo shows???

This is the reg I am interested in. I didn't know there was a recall though. Are the ones from ST safe from this recall?

the recalll is 1-2 years old, might be a few bad ones still sitting on shelves... who knows??? ST could probably tell you how long theres have been sitting around?

I just ordered one anyways.....couldn't beat the price with the forum discount.

There is a tool to use to check serial numbers with located here:
