Reg question

Ok, I just got a Pressed steel 120 cu tank that I believe has the smaller 7/8 thread( pressed steel dot-e9791-3500tp5250 10-96ia571059ps81 union carbide) . The valve is a din valve. My current 1 st stage is a scubamax yoke reg. Should I get a yoke to din converter, than get a din to yoke converter---( I have another tank that is yoke)-- -- get a din 1st stage and buy a din to yoke adaptor? Any ideas on which way to go?

Is your 120 a LP tank? If the DIN valve has 200 Bar threads, you should be able to screw in an insert that will make it yoke-compatible. If not, I'd suggest either a DIN or DIN-adapted reg.

In that case, you probably don't want to be using yoke regs with it if you can help it, as they may not be rated to use with a high pressure cylinder. Get DIN first stages and a yoke converter (for travel, etc) and you'll be good to go. Your LDS may be able to convert your existing reg to DIN, but I don't really know the scubamax.

If its the same valve I had with my old PST 120, you'll need a din first stage.

What I'd do, convert to din reg, convert the other tank to din and buy a yoke adapter for the din reg.

All of my regs are din and all of my tanks are din. I do have 3 or 4 yoke adapters laying around as well as a couple of yoke K valves.

I don't think the yoke K valve will work with those threads if it's the tank I think it is. It has different threads than most other tanks. But I agree that you should change your reg to din & get an adapter when you use another tank. Plus, if you do convert your reg, be sure your LDS gives you the yoke parts back. Then if you go on a trip where you'll use rental tanks, you can convert your reg back to yoke so you don't have to use the adapter.
