How do you stow your Octo?

While going through the decisions for my BP/W setup, I started thinking about the changes that I would make since I'm not going to have a BC. I had originally planed on getting the integrated octo that was part of the inflator. So now I'm wondering...

How do you stow your Octo when not in use? Especially those of you who use the BP/W harnesses. I'm guessing that you just attach it to one of the many available D-rings but was wondering if anyone had anything more inventive or efficient.

How would something like this work on a harness?

On a bungie around my neck, especially if you are going BP/W

I am thinking about the same thing. I get my BP/W in Feb. I am starting to dive with a neighboring FD's dive team and they used this strap:
Pony Regulator Neck Strap

I have read a few posts of people complaining about the manta necklace. People have posted make your own out of surgical tubing as a solution...

Go with bungee around your neck if you are going to BP/W. Most inflator hoses on wings are shorter than ones on BC's so the integrated Octo is not nearly as nice. I had an integrated octo on my BC but do not use it with my wing. After switching to the bungee my wife thought that was about the perfect setup, since it is always right there, so since she is going to hopefully start diving again this year I think I will be switching her rig around. Ofcourse if you go with the bungee backup you will need at least a 40' LP hose on your main 2nd stage because that will be the reg that you donate if anyone needs it...

Here is a pic of me and a buddy, you can see the 2nd stage hanging from my neck....

I'm a fan of the necklace as well.

I do not like conventional octos. I see to many dragging or floating behind a diver. My concern, at least with my daughter, is that a freaked out OOG diver will come upon her and take her primary if the octo is loose and not in the golden triangle. Then what does she do when the octo is not where it should be.

I put an octo inflator on her BC.

You can install an octo inflator on a wing, but as Phil said, the corrugated hose will likely be too short. That can easily be changed out. But then you end up with a "dangly". Also there is no pull dump on most wings so using the octo inflator requires a little more tasking unless you replace the elbo with a pull dump.

One of the great things about a BPW is it's simplicity. Stick with the reg on 22-24 inch hose an a necklace. I would recommend a 40" primary hose under the right arm with one of these on the 2nd stage

That is how I have my singles reg set up... I do not mess with the long hose for my singles rig. I like the 40' hose under my arm. The right angle adapter is something you will need if you go this route though. My Sherwood maximus comes standard this way, so it was easy for me...

I have a BP/W single tank setup, I had been using a 40 inch primary hose under the arm, with the octo attached to the front right d ring with an octo holder. I just bought a 5 foot miflex and 22 inch miflex hose, so i'll give the necklas a try. Ill try to post the results back to you after I get back from cozumel next month.

I use a 22" Miflex hose for my backup reg. I use 1/8" bungee cord to make the neckless. Don't waste your money on one of the neckless straps sold in stores. I have one. After my backup reg came out of it a couple of times, I went to the bungee cord tied around the mouth piece. This way I know that it is where it is suppose to be. It hangs close enough that I can get it with just my mouth; no hands. I use a 5' hose on my primary worn under the arm and around the neck. It is very comfortable and convienent.
Not right or wrong, just the way I do it.
