Has anyone used

I am lookinfg at buying a regulator. I was looking around today at one of the LDS here in town. Does anyone have any experience with the ScubaPro Mark 2 R295 set up?

What is your budget, where are you diving and what are you currently using?

Scubapro is a fine reg, but I my own personal opinion is there isn't a better deal going than the Zeagle VI or XP from ST which can be had for $350 or less ($300 in my case) if you get them to price match. That is a top of the line reg for the price of a new entry to mid level reg.

My wife and I use this setup. It has been great. The LDS that sells this locally recommended it over the more expensive reg setups. His kids even dive this thing.

Unless you have seen the kids using it be wary of those statements. I have known a dive shop who used to tell all kinds of false stories like that.

However, it is a good regulator regardless of whether his kids used it or not. Most any modern regulator is fine for recreational diving, just match them to your diving environment and you'll be fine.

You can't go wrong with any Scubapro regs. The setup you mentioned is their bottom of the line but still good. It just depends on what you are looking for and what type of diving you are doing.

right now I am not diving. I am getting back into it. getting married and kids kind of put diving on hold. As for the budget, it is going to be kind of tight. My wife is getting certified, so we are going to be looking at getting her gear pretty quick also.

I agree with being wary 100%.

However, we were looking at getting the next higher setup in ScubaPro regs and he pushed us back to this.

The DH & I have the MK11/S555, purchased this past summer to replace our old Mares regs. We do local lake and tropical warm water diving, and so far we really like them. PArt of the reason we switched is the Scubapro reputation ... in general they get excellent reviews, and it seems like they are more widely sold, allowing easier servicing if something goes wrong on one of our trips.

Also - if you're going to be looking for gear for your wife, see what your LDS will knock off if you buy two. Since the DH & I both dive, we have bought most of our gear in two's, and frequently we've gotten a bit of an extra break from one of our LDS' with the double purchase.

You stated that budget is a consideration. The MK2/R295 is probably what your LDS is using in their rental/training gear fleet. There may be an option to purchase older units from that fleet and save a few bucks.

Wouldn't hurt to ask!

Anything in the Scuba Pro line is a great regulator, I currently use 2 SPs as my main regs. That being said, there are other options that are just as good and lot less expensive.
