Question Reg Issue???

I pulled my wifes Aeris reg out this morning, I noticed that I can inhale and exhale thru both the Aeris reg and the Zeagle octo while not powered up.

The exhale I get. But I thought I heard that a reg should not inhale while off the tank?
Is this OK? or any indication of potential problems?
Thanks
Sean

Is the dust cap firmly in place? If it is and you can still inhale through the reg, there is a leak somewhere in the system. But, dust caps are not always totally airtight, so you might want to check it on a tank valve with a good o-ring. One easy thing to check is that the exhaust diaphragm is seating properly, so that air is not being drawn in past it.

I would have the reg serviced regardless at this point....can't really hurt, when was the last time you had it in?

Have it serviced. You should not be able to inhale without a tank.

Remeber, the first stage has a spring valve holding the orifice closed. If you can inhale, then either the first stage orifice is open, the exhale diaphram in the 2nd stage is damaged or there is another leak somewhere.

Best guess is the diaphram in the 2nd stage.
