Akona Deluxe Regulator Bag
I am a big fan of bags and cases that are compression molded with Condura. Years of riding bikes and backpacking have taught me these bags are light, durable and offer reasonable crush resistance. So when a sale popped up for a reg bag employing this design, I decided to take the plunge. I should also note I am a bit OCD so things need to be in their own bag for my own sanity.
After getting the bag, the outside is indeed durable more so that your usual regulator bag. It will offer some crush resistance which might help save some damage during a trip as well. The size of the bag is spot on IMO. Large enough to allow a gentle coil but not so big as to be a PIA to pack away. Two things could really improve this bag though. First, there is virtually no padding inside the bag. Regs are tough, but it would be nice to have a little built in cushion in the bag for the smaller bumps and shakes. The second quibble is that they should have put a stiff block of foam in the middle of the bag which would have added considerable structural reinforcement to the bag. I plan on adding both into the bag which is simple enough, but it would have been a near perfect bag had they come with both. All in all a decent bag with some minor at home alterations. I don't think I would pay more than $25 for the bag though much less the $50 some places want for it. Welcome to AKONA Adventure Gear! |
