If Zeagle ever comes out with one, I would certainly try it.

It's funny, I thought the same thing after OW. Even tried to design one. Kinda forgot about it after I got a few dives under my belt.

Sherwood regulators have exhaust extenders that you can install yourself.

This is just my opinion, but a good way to overcome 'dry-mouth' is to drink lots of water the day before the dive, and throughout the diving day.

My vintage double hose regs vent between my shoulder blades. Very cool.

Do these hoses pull your reg up, and is it easier to keep the mouthpiece in your mouth?
I was considering them when I was still doing a lot of proppellor repairs. When you stay in one position the whole dive the bubbles from a normal reg can become quite annoying.

The double hose reg is very comfortable and there is no jaw fatigue that is sometimes found with a single hose reg. There is also no pulling to one side with the double hose reg.

That being said, this applies to vintage DH regs. The new US Divers Mistral uses larger corrugated hoses from a re-breather and they are too bouyant. These floaty hoses can be equioed with weights to make them more manageable. Compared to a restored vintage USD Mistral or USD Aquamaster the new Mistral is a POS. It is now very easy to economically restore a vintage USD or Voit double hose regulator to breath at least as good as any modern reg, if not better. I dive one reg that is set to a 1/2 inch cracking pressure and it delivers enough air that you cannot overbreath it when working hard.

And for those not into a true double hose, I found this on E-Bay.

VINTAGE DEMONE MK II SCUBA DIVING REGULATOR "NEW" - eBay (item 320345665751 end time Mar-07-09 15:53:09 PST)

And since it has a metal mouthpiece, it might help some with the dry mouth. However, I used metal 2nd stage regs for years, and they didn't really prevent the dry mouth for me.

I know that my Blizzard worked or had a feature to reduce dry mouth, but to be honest when you drink enough water it's the same thing. You should drink enough water that you have to pee every few hours and if you aren't drink more.

No more dry mouth.

That said, I don't have dry mouth with my Apeks XTX50 either. My Sherwood Blizzard had an extended exhaust but I never installed it,the bubbles don't bother me now anyhow. I don't remember if they ever did though.

This might help with the bubbles (but Scubatoys doesn't sell it): Kronos Supreme

I met a guy on a dive boat once who would pop a Jolly Rancher hard candy in his mouth before the dive. I have tried it and it does help if the dry mouth is much of an issue. I pretty much just ignore it.

I got the extended exhaust for my Atomic reg. It isn't very long, but it is just enough to get the bubbles out a bit. I actually always had mask leaks right next to my eyes until I started using the atomic with the extension and the leaks have stopped. I would never have thought that bubbles would have caused that, but I guess they did.

The atomic extended exhaust will work on any of their regs.
