My reg make's a weird sound at 80' or deeper??

anyone elses reg make a kinda squeaky noise at depth?
It is completely silent down to like 70'... but 80 and on and it kinda squeaks and squeals? but still breaths with no effort at all.

by the way, it's a Mares V16
and has been up kept as should. cleaned, and serviced. no water has ever gotten in it.
Thanks for any and all help ahead of time

I don't notice my Zeagles making any different noise as I take them down. Have only had them to around 150-160', but at those depths, nothing unusual.

So they do make noises? but the same noise all the time? or do you just hear air going trough them?

Sorry for the confusion, no, just the gas flow and of course the diaphragm moving.

Could you try to more precisely describe the sound you hear? Can you tell where it's coming from? Inhale and exhale? Just one? Only noticed at depth? Is it breathing force dependent? Can you modify it by adjusting the second stage at depth? Noticeable with both second stages? Anything extra could be helpful.

It's the 1st stage for sure, and no mater what 2nd stage im on.
The sound is unique, so it's hard to describe. It's a bit like when you open a water focet just a bit, and it makes that squeaking sound... but not the same tone.
Only on inhale. only deeper than 75-80', but does not affect the breathing force. Mares regulators do not have adjustment knobs, so i cant adjust the 2nd stages while i dive (though they do breath nicely at all depths I've been to.)

Yeah, I've no idea. Hopefully someone with a Mares reg (or just more varied reg experience) will jump on here soon.

BG, my V16 will humm occasionally when it's dry, especially immediately after having it serviced. Once wet it goes away almost completely, and once it has maybe 5-10 dives after the service it's gone for good. I don't know if this describes what you're hearing but from what I've read it's a resonance thing from the air passing through. Could be the a number of things; some do it, some don't. And apparently very slight adjustements inside the 1st can sometimes be enought to stop the resonance. If you,re worried about it, why not ask scubatoys if they think they can do someting about it. Or ask the mares reps in the scubaboard forum if they know of a fix (then send it in to them).
Mares... Just add Water! - ScubaBoard

I know this isn't the answer you were looking for, but it might help you on your way to finding the real problem and getting it solved!

Good luck!
