I have an Aqualung reg and there seems to be some kind of raised serial number on the plastic part of the second stage that just rubs my lower lip/chin the wrong way. I was thinking of filing it down. Any suggestions?

Just send it to me. Filing down the serial number will cause the reg to split in half and will no longer be usable.

EDIT: Otherwise, just make sure you copy down the serial number and make sure to "mark" the reg in some way so that if it's ever stolen, you can identify it.

What kind of AL reg are you using? I just checked mine and the only thing that my chin could possible contact is the exhaust tee that doesn't have any markings.

It's a Titan LX. The number is on the exhaust tee, on the part closest to your chin. Actually I'm not even sure if its a serial number, but it is a raised number or letters, it may even say patent pending or something else. I'll check it out tonight.

Before filing it down, I might try something like aquaseal to smooth it out. I'd worry that filing would just create a more abrasive surface. Aquaseal, on the other hand, would just provide a smooth surface.
