The hoses could be inspected and tested. I have quite a few old hoses still in service with no problem.

Old hoses with no cracking or splitting particularly at the connectors have passed the test of time. I also have several 30 year old hoses. A new hose is an unknown until proven otherwise.

I have an old metal Dacor Pacer XLE that I'm using as my octo, and it breathes just as well as the XTX50 that I'm using as my main 2nd stage!

My newest reg (not including AGA) in a '79-80 Conshelf Supreme, and my oldest and favorite is a '67-68 DA Aquamaster.

You should be fine if the maintenance has been done.

I just took my 50 year old Aquamaster down to 225 feet on trimix with my 40 year old Poseidon as backup. I trust them more than most new regulators. Many of these older regulators, especially ones that were made continuously of periods of several decades were and still are great regulators.

YES! It's terribly dangerous!!! Put them in a box immediately and send them to me for safe disposal. Wouldn't want any kids to get there hands on such dangerous devices...

Here's an interesting side question!

Do you think the regs that you buy today (Mares Abyss, Scubapro S600, Apex) will be usable in 20-30 years with proper maintenance?

As long as they are serviceable, go for it!
I have been diving Poseidon Cyclon 300's for a few years. This is a 50 year old design, my set is about 35 years old and works great!

My hubby dives with a 20+ year old Sherwood Blizzard reg, no problems as it is serviced regularly.

As to tomich's question, I just bought a new Zeagle Flathead set-up and I sure hope its still going strong in 20 years!
