Miflex Hose Length?
I am going to replace my wife's hoses with Miflex and since they come in 26" and 30" - I am trying to decide which length to purchase. I would like to get the shorter hose to reduce the large loop, but I have concerns that the 26" might be a problem.
I have tried to talk her into going to a long hose arrangement - but she tried mine and does not like it. Her current 2nd has a 30" rubber hose and I was wondering if replacing it with a 26" Milflex would be OK or would it be too short and pull on her mouth? |

I use Miflex and it does not pull as much as the rubber hose. That said, I hae the 40-inch and loop it beneath my right arm, terminatin with a 90-degree elbow. Even without the elbow, the pull was signifcantly reduced

Wife wants to use the hoses in a conventional manner - shorter hose as her primary 2nd stage and the long (40") hose for an octo. My concern is will a 26" hose for the primary 2nd stage be too short??
Personally I use a 5' primary with a 120 deg swivel run under my right arm and a 24" bungied under my neck, when I dive a "normal" reg and not my double hose - but she does not like that arrangement. |

You may want to see if your lds would let you borrow a standard 26" hose to see what your wife thinks about. Personally I think she would be fine. I use a 22" Miflex on my necklace and it works out great. If you buy it from Scuba Toys, you'll get 10% off, plus if she doesnt like it they'll let you return it for a different one, even once its been in the water. I switched over recently and really like them, but I'm using a 7' primary hose.

I have the same setup as Tekdiver with a 22" hose on the necklace. It is fine as an alternate, but it has a little bit of pull when I'm breathing out of it and look all the way to the left. If I was going to use it all the time as my primary, I would change it to a 26".
But, like I said, it just pulls a little when I look left. If it were just a couple of inches longer, it would be fine. So, I am pretty confident that a 26" would have no pull at all. Of course I still need to give the YMMV disclaimer. |

I am about to change my wife and myself to Miflex hoses for our primary regs. I am inclined to go with 30" which matches our current standard reg hose length. Does anybody think 30" would be TOO long for standard recreational diving? I am also going to Seacure mouthpieces.
