opinions on sherwood, and genesis regs

I'm looking at the Sherwood Maximus or Oasis, or the Genesis GS2000, the reason, is the LDS services these regs. Should i not worry about that or can he service any reg that i buy? I've also looked at the oceanic regs, but wasn'tj sure if he could service those or not. Thanks

Sherwood Maximus user here. Use it for every dive, unless it's in for annual service. Great reg, IMO.

The only reg I have owned is the Oasis, over 11 years now. The great thing about Sherwood is that you can get it worked on almost anywhere. I blew a seat in Bonaire, and it was repaired within an hour.

Never used a genesis, but bought my wife a Sheerwood Maximus back in 1994. She didn't use it for about 10 years, but a quick service and it was a good as new. It definately doesn't breathe like my AL Legend, but it's a solid performer and it's pretty bullet proof.

Always good to have a reg that you can get local service on. Otherwise they will have to order in parts which will slow the process. Also each shop tech is "authorized" to work on certain regs and not others. That does not mean they could not fix a problem but if it is a warranty issue then only "authorized" techs as then you could void the warranty.

As for Sherwood. I think the are great recreational regs. I used and Maximus and Brut for years. Solid regs that will last for years. Often used in rental gear case of their durability.

Are they not good, for anything, beyond the normal 60ft, recreational mark, i've read someplaces that sherwood's tend to breathe alot harder at deeper depths. There is other places to get services done, but i was just curious if the shop i normally hang out at, could service anything other than sherwoods.

I use my buddy's GS2000 for pool sessions. Very smooth breather, and Sherwood/Genesis are known for making very reliable regs.

I've never had it to depth, but he has had to 100' with me and had no complaints.

I prefer ScubaPro for my primary regs but I have been considering picking up some simple Sherwoods for deco regs and stage bottles.

I have had my Oasis to 130' more than once and never noted any breathing problems.

The only way to find out about you LDS is to ask them what they can service.

ok my two cents, have the sherwood magnum, and had it to 80 to 100ft had no real difference on the pull of breathing. if i didn;t notice it than it wasn't a problem. great reg and as you can see from my picture i use it all the time. i also use the shadow + for my octo and hooks into my inflator so i have one hose for both the octo and inflator and i didn;t have to make any adjustments or replace any parts on the inflator or bc jacket. the best part it is very stream line and i did use it at 90 ft with no problem, comfortable i should say
