Cold or Warm?

If it's not mentioned in product literature (or I'm just blind) how do you tell if a reg is sealed or unsealed?

The reg in question is an Oceanic GT3, if that helps.

Also, at what degree is a cold water reg necessary?

I just found in the literature. I'm good until 50F. Won't ever be diving in that.

If your address is Florida and that's where you dive, a cold water reg isn't needed as you don't have any cold water. LOL. You would need a cold water reg below 40 degrees.
Up here in Wisconsin we routinely dive sub 40 degree water. I prefer my Phoenix Royal Aquamaster or my Poseidon Extreme. My buddies run the gamut from Apex and Sherwood to Aqualung Glacia's. One guy was using an old Scuba Pro MK10, but got tired of it free flowing and retired it to Carribian diving.

I dove at Rainbow River yesterday. You could point to the Floridians. Air temp was 71- Floridians were wearing sweatsuits (with flip flops) and out of staters t-shirts/shorts. Water temp was 71 according to dive computer. I was rather warm in my 3mil though.

all u crazy warm water divers, anything higher then 50 is a warm dive

I use 2 cdx-5's with gt3 second stages for my doubles. they are both enviro sealed and have seen plenty of dives in sub 40s and quite a few ice dives with no freeflows or problems what so ever. The GT3 with the CDX-5 is a nice reg, nothing amazing like an apex but it gets the job done.

Hell, 50F is considered a warm water dive where I live (Finland). In winter it can actually drop below 32F, though I don't do any diving then.
