hose lengths?

How are the hose lengths measured on regulators hoses? I just went to measure mine, since I'm planning a miflex upgrade. Is the length measured from connector threads-to-threads (total max length of the entire hose plus connectors at the ends) or is it the actual rubber hose length minus the connectors?

Reason I ask is that common lengths seem to be 36", 40", etc. But my primary hose measures about 38" end-to-end (including connectors). The actual rubber hose is about 36". So is this what is considered a 36" hose?

I've never measured the hoses before, so this is new to me. I just want to be sure I am ordering the correct size, since I will be ordering online.

I was told Miflex hoses are measured from end-to-end, not connector-to-connector, when I asked the US Distributor.

Because the miflex is so much softer and flexible even during pressure, does this mean that it can be shorter than the normal hoses? Or we should just use the same length?

I went with hoses 2" shorter, than the ones I replaced.

It can be, a little, but doesn't have to be.
