Oceanic makes a 7' hose but it's expensive and a special order item, not something I want if the hose breaks on a dive trip.

If someone is interested I am asking $500 including shipping, this includes the din connection along with the DVT yoke connection. Your LDS or Scubatoys can easily put the DVT yoke on the first stage. I will also include UPS ground shipping too. My email address rich.clay@att.net

why wouldnt you just put a 7' hose on that wasnt oceanic. I use my 2 oceanic cdx-5's and gt3's for my workup to tech diving, and i spent i think 10/15 bucks for a 7' hose that i put on myself, works great.

The EOS does not use the standard thread on the second stage it is specific to the EOS. A 7' hose is available but it cost $80, and it's a special order item at every dive shops I have visited. I am not saying the EOS regulator set up is not for Tech Dive, it is probably one of the best out there. I juust did not want to carry around two 7' hoses, 1 would be a spare hose. I have already replaced a hose because the DM on dive trip got the hose hung on the boat and ripped it apart, but they had a replacement hose on hand.

I decided to go another route because I wanted a regulator that uses the standard hose connection which has already paid off. The regulators you have utilize the standard thread for the second stage.

I've had my EOS for a year now, and I love it. It almost breathes for you. I also must mention the best investment you'll ever make to compliment your reg; a Seacure mouthpiece. Whatever reg you end up buying, get the Seacure.

Nope, Original purchaser only.
But I guess I still can do annual service, just will have to pay for parts.

I bought this reg directly from Oceanic, the LDS I was using had the rep in and they offered it to all the dive staff for around $200, so I bought two....I used it on about 10 - 15 dives in the Keys....and found a couple things...First it was SO overtuned that even when not breathing bubbles were coming out of the exhaust, Second that it would freeflow at the surface at the slightest touch (because of the tune). I agree with most of the rest that it is an easy breather, but I own an Atomic B2, and I truly think that it is SO much better then the EOS. I would spend my money on Atomic. They have consistently fantastic and well rated equipment that you will always be able to re-sell in the future should you decide to upgrade, not always the case with eveything one else. Plus I feel that Atomics have an easier and less "force the air" down your throught feeling. Ultimately I sold my Oceanic stuff here on ST.

Overtuned? Isn't the flow adjustable with a quick knob turn? I'd think you could have adjusted the EOS to not flow when not breathing. As for the surface freeflow it has a surface switch to prevent that but if you had the breathing flow set too active as you describe the reg will overcome the surface switch and freeflow. Seems to me you made no attempt to learn how to use the reg properly.
That force the air down your throat feeling can also be tuned down by simple adjusting the flow control knob.
Maybe if you can get key man pricing on the Atomic it's worthwhile but for those of us that have to shop our LDS or online Oceanic's MAP pricing vs. Atomics MARP pricing structure tranlates to more for the money purchasing Oceanic products.

(From ST before 10% dis.)

Oceanic EOS = $670
Atomic M1 = $700

It's not like the EOS is a budget reg, good reg, but not budget.....

Both are great regs, side by side the Atomic would edge out the Oceanic but I would dive either.

above 100 feet, is there a reg that really sucks that you (generally speaking) wouldn't dive with?
