Linda,
Zeagle has a pneumatically balanced second stage with a metal air barrel. The metal air barrel does quite a bit to reduce dry mouth. Oceanic, for example, has recently begun using pneumatically balanced second stages on 2 of their regs, but alas, they have opted for a (much cheaper) plastic air barrel.

I'm pretty certain I will choose the Flathead VI, especially after talking to Todd at ST. Unfortunately, they cannot give any further discounts on this reg. I'm thinking I will pair it with the Zeagle Envoy or the Zeagle ZX (although the second is more money).

Being a new diver, I thought I would go with a traditional Octo, but I would like comments on the pros and cons of an integrated Octo.
I have heard the idea of pairing mentioned a couple times. Are you guys/gals talking about running two second stages off of one firtst stage and and octapus? If you are could you explain why you are doing this?

do you really need a new reg? if the conshelf works fine then i'd keep using it.

my instructor for my open water course used a 20year old conshelf, and he was quite happy with it.

altho, if you do buy, im partial to the zeagles.

I think I just answered my own question there is a envoy reg and octopus. I guess a Doh is in order at this point.

Actually Clernix, I didn't make it clear. I am talking about a Zeagle flathead as my reg, and a Zeagle Envoy octopus as the alternate. I may go with an integrated octo later, but I think I will feel more comfortable as a newbie with the more traditional setup.
