Newbie ? Tusa vs Zeagle

Newbie looking to buy first regulator setup. Rec. diving in warm water.
Tusa rs-130 with tusa ss-10 octo or spend extra $$ for Zeagle envoy deluxe with envoy octo?

first of all, welcome 84turboz!... I too am comparing the same options.. anxious to see the responses... should get some good advice from these guys...they're pretty savvy!

All you need to do is look at my sig to see how I feel about Zeagle. I love their stuff, and for the price I don't see how you can beat an Envoy Deluxe. Balanced diaphragm, adjustability, and perfect scores on Scubadiving magazines tests.....If I'm not mistaken it had a total WOB of 1.03 jl at 198 FSW with only 750psi inlet pressure...Pretty impressive.
Not to mention Zeagle's reputation for customer service, free parts kits for annual maintenance, and Scott's presence here if you ever have an issue...These are the reason's I went with the Zeagle's... Having said that...

While I have no direct experience with the Tusa, I don't think I've ever read anything bad about the RS-130.. I have seen Larry say on this forum, that for the money the RS-130 is the best deal going..In that same thread, (which I can't find right now or I would link it), a number of people that have the Tusa commented on their happiness with it.
While I don't have any numbers to compare the two side by side, if you are strictly warm water rec diving the RS-130 will probably serve you quite well, and save you some $$ along the way.. If you buy it from ST I think you get the free maint. parts for life if they do your service as well..

Either way you go they are good regs....

My vote goes for the brand that begins with "Z" and ends with "eagle".

zeagle has a huge following...
both products will keep you alive. one is cheaper.
my BF is looking at the Tusa after Larry recommended it over some other regs. (zeagle was not one)
if you have the money, and dont mind splurging. then get the Zeagle.

I have the Tusa regs and haven't had a single problem with them but FYI...I am buying a Zeagle octo/inflator combo now and and I will get the reg when I have the extra cash....I have used my friends one time when they wanted me to dive and I didn't bring my stuff and the Zeagle seemed easier to breathe.....

Same goes for any other product, but price should not be your only factor.

Two different cars will get you from point A to point B.

But what about availability and cost of service?
What about parts?
What about features?
What about reliability?
What about expected lifespan?
What about the fact that one doesn't have the cool "Z" emblazoned across the front?

(OK, scratch that last one).

I'm not saying one is necessarily better than the other, per se. But I will say that, if everything else is equal and the only question was "Will it keep you alive?", why would we not simply have one regulator to choose from?

Ok, I'm just kidding...please buy our stuff....Christmas is coming and my kid wants one of those battery operated motorcycles that he can ride around the yard and sidewalk on, so I need the money.
