Air Buddy alternate air

Has anybody tried this little device?
http://divesales.com/index1.html

Seems like a good way to streamline your rig...

Dumbest scuba product I've ever seen. They were trying to sell them at one of the Dema shows... and the laughter from divers was deafening. It's basically the same as taking one of those rubber air gun bend it thingies, and putting it on a hose. Is anyone going to know how to use it in an emergency?? Just get a small octo.

Yeah I don't think that this thing is for me. It looks like he's drinking through a really big straw. No way could that be any good. Some inventions are just a floop. Besides if it had been good it would be all over the place by now.

I seen them online but my problem would be someone trying to us it in an emergency. You would have to do some training with it because divers are used to just being able to breath. An out of air situation would not be the time to learn how to use it. I also like to see test on how it stands up over time.

Also they want like $70 buck for that thing. It not nearly as complicated as a 2nd stage. The thing should be no more then $25. It not much more then a attachment you can get for a compressor at your local hardware store.

Now I be willing to try it. But not at that cost.

I was curious about it the first time I saw one.
The price kept me from looking into it further.

I know of one person who is using one on their vintage double hose rig. They are using it as a compromise of vintage (which is nothing) and having a backup. I do not know much more than that.

couldnt this cause over expansion of the lungs?
i though the purpose of the 2nd strange was to reduce air pressure even more that it already was by the 1st stage.
theres no way this can do the same thing, or all of our regs would be tiny.

But on their website they claim:

this was the single most popular new piece of gear at the 1998 DEMA (Diving Equipment Marketing Association) Convention.

And if its on the internet it must be true

Or just maybe they are completely full of it.

Come on Larry. Tell us how you really feel.

I was curious about that as well. The above answers it for me.
