I have a yoke reg just because it's the norm. My next set of regs will also probably be yoke. Sure DIN is better, but I have yoke tanks, don't want to spend the money to convert them, and using an adapter just adds another o-ring. Then again, I lost an o-ring on my tank in the water just last weekend. I happened to be at the surface so it was nothing more than a minor annoyance but it does go to show you it happens. Also, it was a brand new o-ring that I had just replaced, so it had been inspected. Apparently it was just a dud right out of the box.

<DIV>It doesn't add a O-ring, it just moves the O-ring from the tank to the Reg. I think it's about as easy to lose 1 from the din connector as it is to lose it from the yoke valve. That's why I carry spares with me all the time now.</DIV>

<DIV>I'm not trying to convince you to convert your gear, I just wanted it to be clear for those that might be thinking of changing.</DIV>

I should have been more clear. What I was trying to say is if I got a new reg that was DIN I would need to be using a DIN to yoke converter or convert my current tanks to DIN. Since I don't want the added expense of converting the tanks using the adapter would entail two o-rings instead of just the one.

Another DIN diver here. Wanted it because it feelsmore secure, less likely to leak, etc. Also have adapters in case I'm travelling.

Don't forget that if you own your own tanks with DIN valves to carry a fill adapter as well. Some shops can't fill tanks with DIN valves and without that adapter you're out of luck should you need a fill.

All my singles tanks (well, now) are pro valves, so I can always pop the donut back in for a fill if need be. Steel is really common here in SoCal, so I can't recall the last time I was on a boat or in a shop that couldn't fill DIN, either with a DIN fill whip or with the brass adapter thingy. (&lt;-- technical term)

You can convert Din to Yoke, harder to convert Yoke TO Din.
