Regs , Octos & 300 Bar Cylinders

I am not sure if this should be in Regs or Tanks.....

My tank is an HP80 with a 300 Bar DIN connector. I am planning on getting a Mares Mr22 Abyss as my primary regulator. I have read that it is prone to wear even on 300 Bar systems.

If I am using a 300 bar valve will I need to be picky on my octo selection if 300 bar systems are toughter on your regs?

I was looking at getting a Proton Metal Octo, but should I be looking at getting another Abyss instead?

Does the Octo connect to a LP port on the first stage??

Sorry for the newbie questions.

Don't worry to much about the '300 bar' setup. Its means little. Its the 3442 pressure in your tank which will determine the 'wear' on the regs. Along those lines, as long as the reg is recent, its good for the 'hp' service.

Now, for 2nd stages. Frankly speaking, the tank pressure simply doesn't matter. The 2nd will never see it. It only sees the intermediate pressure as set by the first stage. It would see the same line pressure with a 3442 psi tanks as a 1000 psi tank or even a 4000 psi tank. Get whatever 2nd's you like.

The Mares Mr22 is one of the best first stages you can buy. Mares also offer SS HP seating options and they used to make a Ruby crystal seat for longer servicing and minimal wear.

The issue as stated above is what pressure your using. The use of 300bar cylinder (filled to 300bar) will increase the wear on your HP seats. Which means you will be servicing your first stage every year instead of every 2 years (mr22 service period is every 2 years from memory).

If your not using 300bar filled cylinders there is no difference between them and the standard yoke fitting.
