Mares MR12III

I posted an earlier thread but did not get a definitive answere. Can the MR12III pri and oct still be serviced? I was told on my last service that they probably would not be able to get service parts for them anymore. I need to know if I need to buy new regs or can I spend my money on a better computer. Can anyone help?

The MR12 first stage and Proton second stage are still current products. The difference with yours and the current model is in the second stage. That being said I'm pretty sure the new rebuild kits will still work with the older version.

I'd suggest posting this question on scubaboard for a definitive answer. I've seen lots of rec divers turned tech on that board that talk about still using their old MR12's for deco regs. Post there and one of these will likely chime in.

The MR12 III is not that old (mid-late '80's) and should be serviceable. The MR12 is very similar to the current MR12 first stage. The III second is a simple, metal case, downstream. Excellent cold water reg, by the way.

ED, did you finally ask Scubatioys directly (by phone) if they were able to service the III 2nd stage? As I told you before, I'm sure the MR12 will be no problem.

They should know and phoning in will be the easiest/ fastest way to find out (he he, they even have a toll free number).

Or, as suggested above, you could post this in the Mares section over at Scubaboard Scuba Gear and Scuba Diving Equipment - Discount dive gear

Phil and Zak from Mares are always hanging out there and are very very helpfull.
