For anyone planning to do diving in a quarry in the midwest, like Gilboa or mermet, I would strongly recommend an enviro-sealed, diaphragm regulator, possibly like the one ST has on sale, Oceanic CDX-5. Even if you're staying in the shallower, warmer part of the quarry, at some point you will want to venture into deeper, colder water, especially if you own a drysuit, that's when you can get into trouble with an unsealed piston reg.
I did dive once in 40F water in April using an IST R-10 (piston) regulator and did not have a free flow. But I probably won't do that again.
