Tusa RS-130 (cold water)

All of the very positive reviews and great price have me very interested in the RS-130, especially as a first Reg. My question is, with it being a piston based reg and not environmentally sealed, what would be the coldest water temp you would feel comfortable diving in with it? If it ends up being colder than what I am willing to dive, then it's all good. I would probably be OK diving in the low 50's as long as it wasn't too cold topside. I think I have read that once you get to about 40*F is when you really need to start considering an environmentally sealed reg. So, I am guessing that I would be fine with the RS-130, but just wanted to get your thoughts. Thanks!

I dove with mine in 20C or 75F water in one of the Cenotes. It was pretty cold for my taste. Anyway I have the RS 130 and am pretty happy with it.

I have never dove that reg., but it appears to be of good quality from a few divers comments previous, and you would be just fine in waters in the 50's with no issues.

Great, that's really good to know. I think I am set on it as a first reg., but keep having it in the back of my mind on 'what if' I ever dive in water getting down into the 40's. However, with my complete wussyness towards cold, I do highly doubt that I would ever dive below 50's even if I were to get a drysuit.

Rox, thank you for the recommendation from the manual. So, I just need to be sure to stay about 50*F, which shouldn't be a problem at this point in my diving career.
