My OMS R250 has done it a time or two on the surface, but never at depth. Had a dacor at one time that did it for the first minute of the dive, but I never had a problem. My instructor was there that day, and he took a look at the reg (he is trained for that to) and said it was something to do with the little lever getting pushed slightly or something.

The harmonica sound? That happens on my regs frequently, but never underwater. In and of itself, it's not generally a problem.

I talked to a technician at Zeagle since my had some noise and because how regs are designed you may get a harmonica effect plus the sound can be different by the way you breathe.. I think that is what he said.

Yeah, I haven't heard yet that the harmonica sound is a bad thing. Neither of my Zeagle ZX regs make the sound (yet) though.

I use a mares MR2 in the pool and it does the duck sound at the surface but nothing under 5' .....I haven't had any trouble breathing from it. The Abyss doesn't give me any troubles at all

If I really try, I can make the "duck call" when on the boat, it's fun because there is always somebody who is startled by it.
