Purchasing new regulator

I know there are a number of regulator purchasing questions on the board but I had a few specifications that will help me narrow down from what other people have posted. I'm looking for a regulator and will be using it frequently (roughly once a week) mostly going to depths around 40 or 50 feet but will, on occasion, drop down to 100+ feet. I will also likely be traveling some with it. I would like to spend less than $300. I'm a new diver so I don't have any preconceived biases, preferences, or, quite honestly, knowledge about brands or types.

Some regulators I've looked at are the Mares MR12 and the R2, the XS Scuba Seaair Tri-Metal, and the Zeagle Envoy. Any preferences among those or any others?

Thank you very much for your help.

are we talking $300 for just the pri/sec reg, or $300 for the whole setup (backup and gauge included?)

Thanks for the opinions thus far. I'm looking for $300 for just the pri/sec although I will admit that I would prefer something quite a bit less than $300 as I am buying all my gear (I just moved to an island so diving is readily accessible) and don't want to drop a grand on the necessary equipment.

Search this site, you will find many good reviews on the Tusa RS-130... it is a great in expensive Recreational reg that will do what you want it to...

I used an assortment of them during training and found them to be easy breathers at a variety of depths... the Tusa equipment is very reliable, and I only didn't go with the 130, as I got a great deal on the RS-460's...

Mares MR12 are good work horse regs that will preform under stress...can't go wrong.

As you appear to be getting more than just a reg, CALL (don't email) ST and tell them what you want.

They can put together a package at a great price. They can also give good advice on what to buy.

I purchased a Zeagle Envoy Deluxe, because it and the Envoy both scored tops at ScubaLab. YMMV.
