Question Reg purchase advice

Gentleman here in Hawaii wants to sell the following:

Oceanic Alpha Reg 1st and 2nd Stage
A second Alpha used as an Octo
and depth gauges

for $199.

I have not looked at them yet. I don't know if he registered them with Oceanic or not (making me ineligible to get parts for reg service)

The advice I seek is this:

1) Good deal?
2) IF he did register them, making me ineligible to get parts, how badly will I hurt in the long run buying parts for service?

Thanks for your help.

Oceanic's warranty is for defects only, as I read it, not for parts. So warranty only comes into play if it proves to be defective anyway.

Oceanic Worldwide - Owner Services - Warranty

If you're happy with the price, seems fine to go for it.

If the gear is NEW than it is a great deal!

I am not one to purchase 'used' regulators (.), I prefer to buy only new out of the box life support items.

Thanks for the advice. I talked to me LDS, and they recommended I not buy until I had a chance to try a couple different regs in order to find what I like.....since will be getting my OW next week, I judged this good advice. They also said that if I decided to go entry level, they would sell me new at that price in order to make sure I got the warranty and stuff.

Yes, I know ST will match prices.

Yes, I would like to make ST my LDS.

Shipping to Hawaii adds cost though.....

We will see.

Not sure how ST could really be your LDS...LOL!

I would support your island shops IMO.
