Alpha 8 from Oceanic

Im starting to get a little confused here. I see Leisure Pro has 11 different listings for the Alpha 8. What is the difference between these other than the first stage they come with? They have the
Oceanic Alpha 8 with the SP5, Black for 149.95 and the
Oceanic Alpha 8 with the SP5, Blue for 124.95. The only difference I see other than price is color. $25 difference for color? And has anyone tried these regulators? These are looking very good considering I dont have much money to purchase my gear.

From what I know there is Alpha 8 (Blue), Alpha 8 DVT (Blue), Alpha 8 Sport (Grey), and Alpha 8 Sport DVT (Grey).

Another thought is that most manufacturers will not honor a warranty on a product purchased leisurepro.com since they are not a authorized distributor for some? most? all? products they sell. This is just a rumor I heard from someone warning me about them, so it may be 100% true of 100% false, just do your research before you buy.

The Alpha 8 looks to be a great reg-I considered it mysef during while trying to decide on which reg. Here is a link I would use

Oceanic Alpha 8 DVT Regulator, Regulators, Oceanic, Oceanic Alpha 8 DVT Regulator

When I bought my reg I went local instead of Web based because that is where I will get my service done. If you don't have a shop close by I would consider ST because they are excellent with a well proven track record. Just my .02.

I'd call L+J, there is only a $20 price difference between the alpha 8 and the GT3 with CDX5, which is IMO a superior reg, especially for cold water.

I would also agree with others about buying regs from LP, they are not an oceanic authorized dealer, so no parts agreements, and the only warranty you have is the one from LP, not from oceanic.

Hi pyre24. I use the Alpha 8 as an octopus and think it's great, apart from the fact it is an octo and they seem to be get in the way and be annoying! If you are going to get anything from Oceanic and don't want to spend too much terrillja's suggestion is good.

Myself I have the Delta IV FDX-10 with DVT and it rocks. I would definitely recommend DVT since a couple of times I have forgotten to put the dustcap back on (just being lazy I know) and it's got splashed with water. Plus the swivel hose is cool, as is the adjustable breathing knob, although the pre-post dive switch is a bit useless IMO.

Thats the route I'm going. I can pick up a GT3 CDX5 for $175-$200 vs. an Alpha 8 for $150-$175. The extra $25-$50 is well worth it.

Keep in mind that with a lot of these products, since we are an authorized dealer and must advertise their MAP price - that is how we can offer a full manufacturers warranty on all products. We may look higher than some other places.... but we will not be undersold... Just call!
