Why You Shouldn't talk someone into Scuba

lol, when I certified there was a wife in the class that was almost the spitting image of this person. She REALLY did not want to be there but her husband talked her into it. She eventually got certified though. I just hope I never need her to save my life on a dive.

Me too.

I gave my wife a gentle nudge toward diving since she likes being in the water so much. Did not have to convince her or talk her into it, just assure her that it would be worth the money if she got certified - that was last summer.

Since then, we have been to Islamorada and did 10 to 12 dives for our first pseudo dive vacation and have now booked Bonaire for this summer for our first "REAL" dive vacation. I think she is almost more excited about going than I am.

Thats a funny vid. My wife doesn't want to dive and I'm not about to force it on her. I get it. She really would not enjoy it. It would make us both miserable.

1. I absolutely agree with this, you should never push/pester someone into scuba when they're not interested. It's way to involving and dangerous, and someone who is learning just so they please you (or get you off their back) is not going to absorb everything they need to stay safe, let alone have fun.

2. I hope this girl doesn't do any kind of diving after her certification, at least until she genuinely takes an interest in it. Seeing how scuba is something she "doesn't get" because you're not "hot" or "attractive" while diving tells me that she's correct to conclude that diving is not for her.

See.. now... with my wife, she had 0 interest till I had her do a short discover scuba. Six months later she's certified and already has her EFR and Nitrox done and is going to now do her advanced!

Of course - I keep telling her once were done with Hawaii she'll have enough dives done to do her rescue lol!

What you guys missed is a follow up video (can't post it from work, will add later) where she is saying that Divemasters of the world beware, she is now certified and ready to go. Methinks she's a bit of a drama queen or attention ***** (insert derogatory slang call girl name here)

The truth is that my wife doesn't dive and doesn't have the desire to learn so I don't push the issue. Do I wish she dove? Definitely, but not enough to try to push her unnecessarily.
