Is the visibility low because of algae?

that's pretty amazing. i had thought that trout were shy and didn't get that close to divers. were they used to being fed?

We weren't feeding the fish while we were there, but watching a couple of the other videos on scuba diving tube videos, I see that some divers do. I can't speak as to whether the quarry owners feed them or not.

Something I do find rather interesting is that in watching the other 2 Gilboa videos you can see the huge difference in the number of trout that are surrounding us. During my video, I think davis73 probably had at least 20 around him at any time. Just speculation, but it might have something to do with the depth; I think that we were a little deeper than the other two and; therefore, there were more fish.

Most of the time we were down, we had a large school of trout following us around. They even tried to "trap" me in the helicopter!

Yeah, IIRC the owner provides food that you can feed to the trout so the have an expectation of food from those bubbly humanoid figures...

maybe it also has something to do with the time of year and ambient water temperature? you were there in summer, when water temps might be warmer, making the fish more active.
