I've done dives with vis that was somewhere between 8-10...inches. not to much by choice, but in college our local training site was in a small bay where 3 feet was a good day. It sucked, but man we turned out some good divers. If you can navigate well in near 0 vis you can do it anywhere. stick with a buddy when you can't see your waist and you will be a better diver for it. Those were the days
![]() Best vis, i don't know, ginnie springs/little river probably tie with vis as far as my light would go. |

Worst viz: Athens Scuba Park, Athens, Texas. Viz was about 3 feet. Have had a silt-out there where viz was 3 inches (difficult to read computer)
Best viz: Catalina Island, California off Casino Point. Viz was 40-50 feet

Best: Cayman and caves in Florida. 100ft+
Worst: Lake Travis. The miky white layer at the thermocline is occasionally so bad it is impossible to see gauges even with a 10 W HID. Only time I have been in genuine zero viz. Last edited by ianr33 : 06-25-2008 at 12:12 AM. |
