I'm looking forward to diving the u-853, but haven't gotten there yet. You might enjoy this photo mosaic of U-352 by Chris O-Riley though... he's selling poster prints of it on his website Chris O'Riley - Photography.

Did the U-853 off Block Island last summer. Very cool dive, still looks like a sub. Sunk May 5, 1945. Max 130ft. to the sand. I touched the conning tower at 94ft and the bottom directly below at 125ft. Very do-able on a single tank, but bring a pony because there can be current. There are a few nice videos of it on Youtube. Not too far from the 853,the Bass is a US sub sunk for target practice. Depth there is about 165ft.

Yes, indeed there are a few good videos at YouTube.

This is the best one I found of U 352 - YouTube - U-352 German U-boat Offshore Morehead City, NC

The one I found for U853 is much lower quality, and it looks like they were poking in some compartments which still had human bones in it (the sub is marked as German War Grave).

Most of the time I've experienced current on a wreck, it wasn't real bad. There was some current at the sub, but if you dropped below the top of the wreck, the current went way down. I've never had what I would call "strong" current here.

I've dove the U-85 & U-352 . I first dove the 85 over 20 years ago and last dove it a couple of years ago and it had changed quite a bit . It is now pretty well ransacked. Last time I dove it there was a boat using airlifts inside the wreck to look for artifacts. It is a pretty neat wreck, to bad how it has been plundered. I doubt I will be back to it unless I go on a private boat. Prices are going sky high for chartering a dive boat on the OBX now and some folks are paying. I won't be paying those prices to go. As I recall the U-85 is about 12 miles or less offshore so it does not use but so much fuel to get out there. Last time I checked I felt the cost to dive it was way too much. If I had never been out there I would still go just to see and experience the history.

Have done the U-352, from strickly a dive perspective, nothing special, but from a historical perspective it is awesome. I had to take pics to my g-pa who served in the navy during WW-II, he appreciated it
