how much bottom time in a day?

Yesterday I did four dives at a local quarry, with 5 hours of bottom time (max depth 33 ft). I was curious what is the most bottom time people have had in one day? (have to be at least 20 ft, no I spent 8 hours in my 10 ft pool!!!)

specify open circuit or re-breather (I know what group will win out)

My max has been 8 hours. 20-40 feet, 7 dives with 1 hour surface between dives. First dive was around 7:15 and got out of t he water after dive 7 at 9:20 pm (on the PADI tables, I was a "T" diver.) Slept like a dead man that night.

unlimited tanks, I thought of this when I was reading the thread about how many dives in a day, I know people that have done 10, 20 minute dives in order to boost their dive count for certification purposes, but I would be more impressed with x number of hours in a day

To me, it's not the number of dives, it's not the hours of diving, it's what and why. If the intent is to increase your dive count or your hours in the water total, then you maybe missing something or may take short cuts you shouldn't. Kind of falls in the "Let's see how deep we can dive" dives. I have seen folks go to 150 on a single AL80 doing bounce dives to say they were there. They took great risks because their dive plan was "we can go to 150' for 4 minutes and stay out of deco, let's go!" no safety planning no back up plans, just if I have a problem, I'm grabbing your octo, and you grab mine if you have problems. NOt safe yet since they did this numerous times, they got a bit cocky and this will lead to problems.

When I did my max hour day, we were looking for a boat in a lake and after we found it, we made a survey and then did the prep dives to raise it. The next day, we did bring it to the surface. The challenges were many, to name a few: finding the boat, determining what it would take to lift the boat and how we would do it and most important, safety, safety and safety. We learned a lot and every dive was planned.

But that said, how were your long dives, diver-wife?

The quarry where you are must be warmer than the quarries around here, or you are a braver woman than I am. I generally end dives at our quarry because I'm cold or we've finished what we planned. By the 3rd dive, I'm usually pretty chilled, so the dive times tend to drop off from there.

I'd have to pull out the logbook but a quick guess would be about 7 hours at Wakatobi. Did 6 dives and most were in the 70 min range.
